Happy Birthday Lucas!

Five years ago our world was rocked at the arrival of our 9 lb 13 oz boy as he blazed into our lives. Lucas brought us back to the parenting books and to our knees as we had to learn how to wisely guide this passionate, intense, and incredibly tender-hearted little boy. We've had struggles and joys watching Lucas mature. Not a single day goes by where we don't enjoy deep belly laughs over something he says or does. We are very thankful for the gift of Lucas.

Lucas was convinced his birthday was “never gonna come.” However, on July 6th our sweet four year old FINALLY turned 5!

Though we are in the middle of rainy season, we were blessed with a beautiful sunny Sunday so we took the kids horseback riding to celebrate Lucas’ birthday. Lucas loves animals and was thrilled to ride the horses.

Weston enjoyed seeing the horses and climbing the corral fences.

Afterwards friends joined us for dinner and dessert. Lucas requested a blue Pterodactyl cake and once again, Dad the cake artist, made it happen.

Throughout the day Lucas kept asking if he was any taller. His only disappointment was the fact that he wasn’t automatically as tall as his other 5-year old friend.
