Goodbye Friends...Hello Malaria

Today was a double whammy of sadness.  First, we had to say goodbye to our sweetest and dearest neighbor friends as Randy, Tommy, and Jonathan moved to another part of the country.
Secondly, Kylah had a very high fever and was being treated for malaria.  She felt miserable and ended up being so disappointed in not being able to enjoy the send-off of our friends, sad though it was.

(Update:Recovery has been quick for Kylah, thanks to Arthemeter meds, and thanks to great mobile phone coverage, we have enjoyed some lovely calls from our little friends.)

A beach! A beach! ...Who needs sunshine?!?

Though we live in what many may deem a tropical paradise, there are very few beaches close to our home.  So we were thrilled to join our friends Steve and Pam as they took us to a smooth, sandy beach about an hour and a half outside of town.

The water was cold and a bit mucky after all the recent rain but that didn't stop our kids from enjoying a good swim and some boogie boarding!

Austin enjoys the challenge of building some structure wherever we go.

Well done, Son!

Vikings

We began this schoolyear studying the Vikings and their explorations and invasions in the world.
Weston enjoyed creating this viking ship model.
(Kylah helped with some of the Viking figure drawings.)

Quiet Moments

Kylah loves to read her bible.  I often find her with her nose (and heart) deep in it.
